SHARING PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS FOR DEI

DeVon Prioleau – President for The Council for Urban Real Estate – looks to open conversation about actionable best practices and collective knowledge in DEI to propel the CRE industry forward.

Due to recent social & economic shifts in our country, corporate boards are now under scrutiny to implement practices which address issues of employee diversity, equity & inclusion in the workplace for people of color, women, veterans and/or those of the LGBTQ+ communities. The Bisnow RISE Initiative Honoree Program injects an element of accountability to those feel-good, but often unmet, corporate diversity goals by highlighting CRE, media, academia and not-for-profit organizations that are making tangible strides in cultivating a diverse and equitable workplace by reevaluating their current initiatives, putting strategies for advancement into effect and using data to measure outcomes.

Through the Bisnow RISE Initiative, firms can share successful DEI practices, facilitate constructive conversations about expanding diversity in CRE, and keep one another and the industry accountable. With the launch of this program, a number of executives from New York’s commercial real estate community have banded together to lend the power of their voice and help maintain momentum with regards to diversity, equity and inclusion in the industry.

DeVon, Managing Principal of PRI-O-LEAU Development Group (a MBE in the Project & Construction Management space), served as Steering Committee Chair of RISE and was responsible for determining the evaluation criteria and subsequent rating system of honorees. DeVon is passionate about resolving shortages of diverse talent and committed to increasing demand for higher quality leadership services amongst minority professionals within Project & Construction Management and regularly participates in lectures, panel discussions and workshops emphasizing the importance of diversified talent as a driver of creativity. He states, “CURE's goal in collaborating with Bisnow is about raising the bar collectively and accelerating the pace of change within CRE".

The honorees of the RISE Initiative will be announced at their Awards Gala on Thursday, April 28, 2022 in New York City.
